1958, Les Chansons De Lánnee
1958 was a very successful year for Dalida, with more than eight songs charting in France. Gilbert Bécaud, Charles Aznavour, and Édith Piaf also released successful records that year. Three evergreens emerged: "Le jour où la pluie viendra," "Mon manège à moi," and "Ballade irlandaise." Paul Anka's "Diana," Harry Belafonte's "Island in the Sun," and Doris Day's "Que sera" (sung in French) were just as successful in France as they had been in Germany, England, and Italy. Several Italian songs also enjoyed great success in 1958, achieving similar success in French. This double CD presents 50 original recordings of the most successful songs of 1958 in France.
