Dillinger Four
This Shit Is Geniuser
Back in the pre-streaming '90s punk scene, you had to be there. Miss a 7" at the show or fail to find it in a record bin, and you probably never hear that song again. Everything moved through mix-tapes, mail order, and word of mouth, and Dillinger Four thrived in that chaos. Formed in 1994 in the middle of a Minneapolis scene that didn't care about subgenre lines, D4 had it all: sharp humor, singalong hooks, and the kind of urgency that comes from knowing your music might only reach the people in the room that night. Over the years, they left singles, compilation tracks, and one-offs scattered across formats and labels, fan favorites that, until now, had never lived together in one place. This Shit is Genuiser features 19 songs: four songs each from three out-of-print 7", two D4 tracks from a split 7"; with The Strike, and a handful of songs previously only on long-out-of-print compilations. Unless you've been digging on YouTube, this is the first time many of these songs are landing in one place. It's not a greatest hits, not a rarities box. It's just a snapshot of a band in full stride, back when punk rock felt like a secret you had to find yourself.
