Eddie Constantine was born on October 29, 1917, in Los Angeles, where his father worked at the Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer Studios in Hollywood. He grew up in Los Angeles and studied singing in Vienna and New York from 1933 to 1936. In 1947, he returned to Europe and performed in Parisian clubs such as the Moulin Rouge. At the same time, he released his first records in France and appeared in his first films. With his role as FBI agent Lemmy Caution, Eddie Constantine became widely known in France and Germany. His biggest hit in Germany was the song "Schenk deiner Frau doch hin und einmal rote Rosen" (Give Your Wife Red Roses Now and Then) (1956, #7). From the mid-1960s onward, Eddie Constantine focused more on acting and transitioned to character roles.
