Jazz guitarist John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery, born March 6, 1923, is widely considered one of the major guitarists from the jazz genre, emerging in the late 1950s, coming after such seminal figures as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian before him. He went on to influence countless others, from George Benson, Kenny Burrell, Bobby Broom, Royce Campbell and Grant Green, to Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, Russell Malone, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenour, Joe Diorio, Tuck Andress, David Becker, Randy Napoleon, and Emily Remler.
