Erickson, Roky -& The Aliens-
Roky Erickson & The Aliens
Released in 1980, this album is a raw, reworked collection of songs drawn largely from Roky Erickson's earlier work with the rock band The 13th Floor Elevators, now reshaped into a more straightforward, hard-edged rock format. The album replaces heavy psychedelic experimentation with leaner production, louder guitars, and a garage-rock/punk-adjacent energy. The band "The Aliens" provide a tight, aggressive backing that pushes Erickson's songwriting into a more direct, less hallucinatory sound. This new original vinyl edition is the first since 2011 but two key-features make them unique: a splatter cyan, hot pink and neon green vinyl and "Bloody Hammer" and "The Wind And More" as bonus tracks.
