Bragolin
I Don't Like What It Does To Me (black)
The third - and first since 2019 - Album by the Dutch post-punk / dark wave band from Utrecht! Dark, hypnotic and simmering with tension, "I don't like what it does to Me' unfolds as a restless journey through fear and escape. Post-punk guitars, 80s-style synths and drum machines conjure a nostalgic yet unsettling atmosphere. The tracks blend vintage influences with shoegaze textures into a dense, layered sound. At times surreal and at times brutally direct, the lyrics explore running, hiding, self-confrontation and barren mental landscapes. The mood stays consistently shadowed, fueled by a lingering post-punk unease. Production favors emotional roughness over glossy polish, deepening the record's nervous energy. The gradual single-by-single release keeps anticipation growing for the full body of work. Several released tracks were created in collaboration with US artist Carrellee. Carrellee's fragile vocals and delicate synth sensibility add a spectral, intimate dimension to the music. For fans of atmospheric underground sounds, the album feels both familiar and eerily singular. Listeners seeking bright hooks may find its enigmatic darkness all the more riveting. In the end, it's a gripping, introspective album that reveals more with every listen. Bragolin is a Netherlands-based post-punk/darkwave project with a distinctly cinematic edge. Under the Young & Cold Records banner, the project continues to strengthen its place in the modern wave scene.
