Beatdown, The

Walkin' Proud

To get a kind of impression what THE BEATDOWN are about (almost impossible without listening to their tunes) just imagine this: trashy rockin roarin beat- & proto-punkers like The Sonics in 1964/65 are being captured for months in a dirty prison in Kingston/Jamaica with nothing to do but listening to the local radio all day long. One day their lawyer comes and offers an agreement with the (corrupt) Judge: Only shall be released if recording a Ska/Reggae-album to become a total classic during the next 48 hours! This is truely the ruffest and best since 1st album of the Aggrolites, with garage-overdriven punk-vengeance like ,The Sonics of Ska" ... or Toots & The Maytals at Roxy/London 1977 ... or like those mates of early Dead Kennedys & Tuxedomoon, The Offs in San Francisco 79, but who actually remembers this unique band?
