Trumpet Tales
In an orchestra, at least until the beginning of the 20th century, the trumpet was mainly used to play fanfares announcing glory, war or victory. It is safe to say that this instrument was only able to unfold its full tonal and emotional potential in jazz. Miles Davis' muted trumpet has nothing to do with triumph. Trumpet Tales is a portrait of nine legendary jazz trumpeters since the 1920s who are very close to Klaus Wienerroither's heart: Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Clifford Brown, Kenny Wheeler, Don Cherry, Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw. The compositions of his TRUMPET TALES are played by some of the best jazz trumpeters of today and the Barbara Bruckmuller Big Band. Three of the compositions were written for the collaboration with the Barbara Bruckmuller Big Band.
