Ohana Hawaiiana, Vol. 2 (blue)
The OHANA HAWAIIANA Vol. 2. Compiled by the Freiburg-based record collector and disc jockey Jens Galler (aka Buddy Belpaso/Forbidden Bongo Bar). We are all aware that there are numerous Hawaiian compilations from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. But regrettably, they are consistently accompanied by identical "Aloha He" renditions. Additionally, there is a plethora of exotica compilations, which serve as a ring around the entire realm of exotica music. But a tasteful compilation of Hawaiian music on vinyl tastefully compiled - that was still missing. Therefore, here are the two volumes of the OHANA HAWAIIANA! (After the successful first volume, released in March 2024) "Hawaiian and Hawaiian-related music" for an unforgettable private pool party. Sleazy, finger-snapping, and slightly hipshaking without being disturbing. That is the purpose of this once again fantastic, unique compilation of original 7-inch records, carefully handpicked out of his enormous private record collection. This volume contains traditional Hawaiian musicians like Alfred Apaka, the interpreter of the "Hapa haole music" who melted classical Hawaiian music with American pop-arrangements sung in English, as well as Rudi Wairata, a prominent musician in the genre of Hawaiian steel guitar music. But also, so to speak "Hawaiian related" music like from the Danish guitarist and bandleader Jorn Grauengard, the American country singer Slim Whitman, or the German pianist and composer Sascha Kommer. A remarkable desire for the Hawaiian spirit and exotica music is evident in all of their musical compositions. The artwork of the German multi-talented Marcel Bontempi serves as the artistic culmination of this record. An absolute "must-have" for everyone who enjoys Mai Tai nights and tiki style!
