Various (brazen Hussies Tribute)

Sleep It Off

Members of dEUS, Daisy Chainsaw/Queen Adreena, Death In Vegas, Front 242, Sukilove and Kiss My Jazz unite to celebrate and resurrect the myth of the lost legends Brazen Hussies. Released on clear yellow vinyl with artwork by Rudy Trouvé, Sleep It Off arrives via Jezus Factory Records on 3 April 2026. To mark the 20th Anniversary of Jezus Factory Records, we invited friends and collaborators to revisit the gloriously chaotic world of Brazen Hussies the late-90s cult band who somehow managed to hold NME Single of the Week and Melody Maker's Wankers of the Week simultaneously, all while charming Type O Negative's Pete Steele during a Kerrang! guest review. They never capitalised on any of it, leaving behind a trail of brilliant songs, chemical misadventures and frayed mental health. Our 2021 Anthology sparked a new wave of critical acclaim; this tribute shows exactly why. The idea for a covers album began during lockdown, when I (Andrew Bennett, Jezus Factory) started thinking about a covers project. Once UK indie polymath Ian Button (Death In Vegas, Papernut Cambridge) agreed to contribute and master the record the project took on a life of its own. Rudy Trouvé (dEUS, Kiss My Jazz, The Love Substitutes) came aboard to both contribute and create the artwork; Crispin Gray (Daisy Chainsaw, Queen Adreena, Dizzy Q Viper) remembered Brazen Hussies supporting his band and instantly said yes. From there it spiralled into a full-blown love-in featuring some key figures of the Antwerp music scene: Kloot Per W, fresh from celebrating his 70th birthday by releasing two albums on the same day; Elko Blijweert (Dead Man Ray, Front 242, Kiss My Jazz, Gruppo Di Pawlowski); former dEUS guitarist Craig Ward, marking his first commercially released track since 2017; Benny Zen, also returning in 2025 with their first album since 2017; Harvesters, emerging from the rubble of Jezus Factory recording artists, Grand Blue Heron; Dolk, new band with members of Gore Slut and Angels Die Hard; Sjoerd Bruil (Sukilove, Dez Mona); Heyme Kiss My Jazz/iH8 Camera, Donkey Diesel and Jereon Stevens (DAAU, Dino & The Chicks) and long-time label friends including London's creepiest band, David Cronenberg's Wife and Ian Button's Papernut Cambridge. Sleep It Off isn't just a tribute these covers twist the original songs into entirely new shapes, a testament both to the artists involved and the strength of the source material. It's a celebration of a band too wild to stay in step, revived by the musicians that Jezus Factory admire and have released in various guises over the last two decades.
