Sir Simon

Battle

For the musics sake: the Berlin songwriter surrenders himself to the eternal pop song. When Simon Frontzek first started working on this album at the end of 2004 in the back courtyard of a Berlin tenement, he had no plans of ever actually releasing it. He wanted to make music for musics sake, nothing more. But this of course didnt work on the Q.T.. Sir Simon formed a band soon after, and then went on tour with Tomte at the end of 2006. This needed to be followed by an album. A narrative pop record colored by punk, pop and indie-rock was recorded under the aegis of producer Swen Meyer. An album influenced by melancholy and yearning, and one that gives mediocrity a solid kick in the teeth. The album embodies a meticulous description of an unsociable everyday life, the fear of callousness and of losing desire. The yearning vocals both promise and deliver a great pop song. And youll be able to hear the absolute devotion to the everlasting pop song hiding behind the airy arrangements and the crystal clear production.
