Les Jours De Pluie

"I write so that talking to each other gets easier." French songwriter, composer, singer and producer Mathis Riviere embodies melancholy and dresses it in cashmere-wrapped pop. With "Les jours de pluie", his debut EP, he delivers five songs that tame loneliness, elusive desire and Paris. Bittersweet pop where melancholy becomes something to dance to. Through whispered melodies over hushed, dimly lit productions, he plays the confidant and sketches a love letter to his own sadness. But there is also fire in him, a burst of light, and the urge to see others dance. Driven by the singles "Comment rentrer chez soi ?" and "Reprends-moi", the EP culminates with "L'homme le plus triste du square", the portrait of a man waiting for nightfall, umbrella in hand, on a bench at the far end of the park. Urban, sensitive and mysterious, he crafts a bittersweet blend of Gainsbourg-style poetry and modern textures. If Zaho de Sagazan and Ben Mazu, caught the last m,tro in the rain, this would be the soundtrack.
