Before I Go - Best Of

Why is a "Best Of" album from a band that broke up in 2008 being released in 2026? Because things haven't improved; in fact, they seem to be getting worse. Because the music and lyrics are relevant to the current situation, however crazy that may sound. Many of the themes are still valid, and some conditions are even more extreme today than when we were active as a band. More and more people seem eager to abandon the Age of Enlightenment politically and return to the Middle Ages, voluntarily choosing hostility towards democracy, the press, and science. When we sang about unscrupulous bandits exploiting the world 20 years ago, we weren't thinking about the global axis and power of reactionary oligarchs and autocrats, nor about a libertarian AI regime. Our imaginations couldn't even have grasped that nonsense! We were lucky enough to grow up and start the band in a musically and politically exciting and vibrant time. We came from the 80s into the 90s, inspired by many interesting musicians from the punk and ska scenes, and wanted to contribute to this movement ourselves. We did this for over 15 years, with four releases, countless concerts, and tours. We were part of a youth and subculture that, for many young people worldwide, represented a kind of awakening and sparked a politically rebellious and decidedly anti-racist movement. As a band, we were both a part of and an expression of this momentous era. We are happy and proud of this, and that's why this historical document exists. "Subculture til the end" No Respect
