Meine Kleine Deutsche

Before People Forget Sound

The phenomenon of Meine Kleine Deutsche was founded in 2002 by Maria "Mia" Johansson and Patrick Boman, who are were pioneers of Scandanavian Electroclash. And since the art of making music with computers in Northern Europe has blossomed into a league of its own. That of which the genral public has recognised at the very latest with bands like The Knives and Aavikko. After 3 years of the Stockholm based Meine Kleine Deutsche working meticulously and creating masterpieces, throwing them away, then starting over again, here comes the 3rd Album: "Before People Forget The Sound" featuring Max Groendstroem (Sons of Cyrus, Holiday Fun Club) on guitar, and "Topi The Cat" (Sons of Cyrus, Front de Boeuf) on drums. While still having the wildness a la Bikini Kill that the first two albums had, this third release has more of a thoughtful and melancholic flow than seen before. But electroclash is nothng new, right? So what do Meine Kleine Deutsche do different than the other bands? The answer is simple: Their idea of Punk doesn't start in 1977, it starts in 1967 and embraces the sound of The Monks just as well as The Velvet Underground. This has more to do with the time when creative potential wasn't just limited to Hey- Ho and leather jackets, but rather more minimised- anger, sadness, friends, confusion, and a completely new form of expression. Apart from that, the swinging back and forth of vocal styles between Mia and Patrick from sweet to wicked, from melancolic to agitated is the defining character which sets them apart. Once again Meine Kleine Deutshce develops new ways from the outskirts of Punk, Electro, Garage, and Pop, and they have something to say. It's not only exciting. It makes "Before People Forget The Music" one of a kind.
