Investigation No. 1 is an obscure but compelling example of early1970s experimental jazz-funk, blending spiritual jazz, funk rhythms, and Afrocentric consciousness. Musically, Investigation No.1 sits at the crossroads of raw funk energy and exploratory jazz improvisation. Ther album also features a strong sense of community and purpose, namely with the broader Black liberation movements of the time. This vinyl edition is the first after 22 years and the first European ever.
