What Got You Stoked In The First Pl
Girth Control is a three-piece punk-ska band from Albany, NY. What Got You Stoked? was originally recorded live in August 2015 and later re-recorded and self-released in 2025 on CD/digital. Half of the songs on the album clock in at under 2 minutes, proving that short, fast songs with a snappy chorus still make the best punk songs. The lyrics remind listeners that making music is supposed to be fun puns, gang vocals and silly humor included. The 10" vinyl edition of What Got You Stoked? comes on "bong" (neon) green and has a reconfigured layout dripping with 80s/90s VHS, pizza and beer motifs. Note song titles like "The Neverending 40", "Beer Me" and "Totaled". Girth Control is a regular fixture at ska festivals in the Northeast (Croydon in PA and Pioneer Valley in MA and club shows around the Hudson Valley (Kingston-Albany) and New England. GC has played alongside or opened for Spring Heeled Jack, Pilfers, Catbite, Joker's Republic, Buck-O-Nine, Mephiskapheles, The Slackers, Hans Gruber and the Die Hards, Big D and the Kids Table as well as A Wilhelm Scream and Doyle.
