Ely Combo
Vol. Ii
Inspired by the ska and reggae sounds crossing the border from Belize, the Mexican band Ely Combo was among the first in the country to incorporate Jamaican rhythms into its repertoire in the early 1970s. This is their second LP (1974) and is packed with Jamaican originals drawn from the repertoires of Boris Gardiner, Eric Donaldson, and Byron Lee & the Dragonaires, among others. A remarkable anomaly within the Latin American music scene of the 1970s.
