Like many of the bands at Rookie records shatten has a great story of firsts: the first release featuring the pan flute, the first piano piece on a punk record, the first contract after a blind application. Another noteworthy first-time experience - Shatten came to Rookie without any demos, mixes or masters because, as we found out at a bar in Hamburg on an evening in the beginning of March 2020, "We are currently working on our first album and we either do it with Rookie or bring it out ourselves". Whether it was vanity or ignorance, we swallowed it whole! We would have jumped over the bar and chased this band after hearing them play live twice in 2019 - The lightning had already struck with us! And so appeared their debut album of the same name on 30th April 2021 on Rookie Records, although this debut has a long story behind it. They have been making music together since 2005 as four of the five band members were in Findus Formation, who broke up in 2016. Danny (former Guitarist, now drummer), Kristian (guitarist) Simeon (singer) and Stefan (bassist) and now together with Jonas on guitar make up shatten. The 12 songs at around 33 minutes appears to be a typical Punk album and songs like Katzen fuettern, "Muede Freunde" and in particular "Taumeln" confirm this notion. We are told in two quick, hard minutes and four lines in Taumeln There is nothing left there where it was / We stagger in the darkness from left to right / dizzying heights / We are falling! We are falling!"
