1 - 2ND FACE - NEMESIS - (CD)
DEPENDENT

"Nemesis" is an industrial electro album that makes for an intensive listening experience. Believe it or not, it's only the debut of 2nd Face from Frankfurt, Germany, but upon listening, it becomes obvious how classy they already are. Though tracks like 'Divine', 'Movement' or the title song may hark back to the Canadian school of trailblazers Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly, the compositional quality speaks for itself. Thanks to his multi-layered approach, 2nd Face mastermind Thorn easily blends rattling sequences of con- siderable heaviness with club compatibility. The album sounds both profound and tight, not least because the man is currently working towards becoming a professional studio engineer. On "Nemesis", he juggles an arsenal of synthesizers both more than 40 years old and modern. Lyrically, Thorn tackles extreme situations and violence while always focusing on that which happens to us beyond this everyday drag - between the lines, so to say. That this album will be one of the top newcomer releases in 2017 is a safe bet!

2 - ACRETONGUE - GHOST NOCTURNE - (CD)
DEPENDENT

Regular version of ACRETONGUEs long overdue 2nd album. It has taken Nico J. seven years to find the sound and the shape of a successor for his brilliant debut album "Strange Cargo", released in 2011. The long awaited follow up matches the high expectations with ease. "Hypnotic" is the first word that comes to mind, when you intend to describe the music's reach and effect, but "Ghost Nocturne" branches out from there into different territory. Slowly, steadily, carefully Nico J expands his musical horizon. A dreamlike, hypnotic state always seems to be the entry point of Acretongue's musical effects, but "Ghost Nocturne" is more diverse than its predecessor. Not only in terms of the vocals, which come across more varied, but also in the different ways in which it sets up its rhythmic structure and pace. The compositions surround its listeners like dreams, sometimes weird, sometimes upbeat, sometimes in slow pace, but always with surreal yet careful electronic precision and warmth. An electronic music Nocturne.

TRACKLISTING: 01. Abacus 02. Requiem 03. Endling's Call 04. Nocturne I - Dawn Crimson 05. Contra 06. Nightrunner 07. Minutia's Curse 08. Nocturne Ii - The Drowning Hour 09. Haven

7 - CLICK CLICK - SKIN AND BONES - (CD)
DEPENDENT

Like an electronic version of Joy Division, Click Click were at the forefront helping to popularize minimalist melancholy and depressive atmospheres in the 1980s. By the end of that decade, the English duo of brothers Derek and Adrian Smith had released three fantastic and groundbreaking albums and four singles, including EBM classics like "Sweet Stuff" and "I Rage I Melt", which found a rabid cult audience in as well as beyond the electronic scene. (Even today, CD copies of their early albums never trade for less than 60 Euros on eBay.) In the summer of 2008, Click Click caused a sensation with the announcement that they would be making their back catalog available digitally and were returning to live performance. After a number of nearly sold-out club shows the following year, it was clear that the Click Click sound was as popular as ever and fans were eagerfor new material. It took Click Click another year and a half to prepare their new EP "Skin And Bones". But the wait has been more than worth it: now, fourteen years after the release oftheir last full-length album "Shadowblack", Click Click present a new 7 track EP consisting of nearly all new material (only "Damage" has been previously released elsewhere, but is featured here in a completely new version).

8 - CONTROLLED COLLAPSE - INJECTION - (CD)
DEPENDENT

From the EBM forges at Noise Terror Productions, the sister label of Dependent Records headed up by Suicide Commando mastermind Johan van Roy, comes the much anticipated release from Poland's Controlled Collapse. If Poland wasn't always synonymous with quality control in the past, Controlled Collapse are proof that the former Eastern Bloc has become a musical force to be reckoned with. Their debut "Injection" is a mix of hard electro ("Liar", "Impact") and pure EBM ("Selfless", "Dreams") with its sights set squarely on the dancefloor.

9 - COVENANT - THE BLINDING DARK - (CD)
DEPENDENT

The Blinding Dark" is definitely not Covenant's most easily accessible album. It does not contain as many hits as classics like "Northern Light" or "United States of Mind", and it is surely less pleasant than Covenant's most striking earworms "Dead Stars" and "Happy Man". Still, "The Blinding Dark" is exciting not only because of its telling title, but also since it shows a remarkable development in style, something that Covenant decidedly wanted with this record - and not least thanks to the subject matter they address. Of course, dancefloors will still shake during "Sound Mirrors", "Immortal" or "I close My Eyes", yet the albums focuses rather sup- pressed tracks of subtle darkness such as the Kraftwerk- and Jarr-inspired "Dies Irae" and the Lee Hazelwood(!) cover "Rider on a wild Horse", a 1977 country anthem that has been turned into a sombre, sluggish electro requiem with heavy acoustic drums. Eventually "The Blinding Dark" offers a lot to discover, not least probably because long-standing Covenant member Joakim Montelius has once again taken more responsibility in the studio than on their previous works and due to the fact that Daniel Myer (haujobb, Architect) has returned as a permanent fixture in the group's live line-up. Thus, "The Blinding Dark" may hark back to one of Covenant's less "hit-heavy" records that turned out to have more depth and longevity just because of its raw character. It is their second full-length "Sequencer" that could have been the blueprint for the mood on "The Blinding Dark" with slower numbers such as "Tabula Rasa" or "Flux". And there could be worse references, right?

TRACKLISTING: 01. Fullwell 02. I Close My Eyes 03. Morning Star 04. Cold Reading 05. A Rider On A White Horse 06. Interlude 07. Dies Irae 08. Sound Mirrors (fulwell) 09. Interlude 10. If I Give My Soul 11. Summon Your Spirit

Dismantled Debut record was voted Album of the month in Zillo, Orkus and Sonic Seducer in the same month! The record also climbed up to position 4 of the German Alternative Charts leaving established acts behind. Sequence upon sequence, building a thick net of dark electronic sounds and structures, held together by equally complex rhythms. Dark, complex, percussive and thick with atmosshere: these are the words to describe the sounds of Gary Zon and his compatriots. Resistance is futile - the future is DISMANTLED...!

17 - DISMANTLED - THE WAR INSIDE ME - (CD)

"The War Inside Me" is actually the missing link between his dark and desperate masterpiece "Post-Nuclear" and his club compatible sarcastic follow-up "Standard Issue". It is a certain observation that his new album fits right between those records, stylistically, equipped with two additional attributes. One is Aggression, the other one is Hate. The war inside me is certainly Gary Zons most aggressive work so far.

23 - EMPIRION - RESUME - (CD)
DEPENDENT

There are not a lot of electronic dance albums eagerly expected by their fanbase 23 years (!) after the release of its originators' only album, but "RESUME" is one of them. This may well be due to the fact that with their 1996 debut "Advanced Technology", Empirion managed to gain respect in the electronic dance and EBM/industrial scenes alike - a rare achievement, to be sure. Another reason might be the timeless masterpiece that is the remix of The Prodigy's hit single 'Firestarter', which is still capable of filling dancefloors even two decades after its release . or it is because Austin Morsley got some impressive mainland Europe credibility with his project Kloq in the meantime? Whatever might be the case: The high regard in which the crowd still holds the Essex duo - consisting of Austin "Oz" Morsley and Jamie Smart - is remarkable. Correspondingly, "RESUME" harks back to Empirion's legacy as much as it addresses the very topical struggle between man and technology ('I am Electronic') and our universal angst ('Hate the Hate'). Therefore, the band appears to be even more relevant than it was back in the 90s. "RESUME" turns out to be a smasher of an album - a stylish hybrid between dance and industrial, retro and modern at the same time, influenced by bands such as Future Sound Of London, Nitzer Ebb and - of course - The Prodigy while still maintaining Empirion's individuality. 24 - EMPIRION - RESUME (LTD) - (CD)
DEPENDENT

Limited edition [300] 2CD Book (36 pages, hardcover, 18x18cm) incl. additional artwork andEXCLUSIVE bonus CD with 6 bonus tracks, incl. a remix by Marc Heal of CUBANATE!There are not a lot of electronic dance albums eagerly expected by their fanbase 23 years (!) after the release of its originators' only album, but "RESUME" is one of them. 25 - ENCEPHALON - THE TRANSHUMAN CONDITION - (CD)
DEPENDENT

Ottawa's Encephalon unite an accessible and club-friendly sound with the outrageously good vocals of bandleader Matt Gifford. Elements of the classic Canadian electro-industrial sound are woven together with futurepop melodies in a way you've never quite heard before. Whereas many albums become one-dimensional in their singleminded pursuit of the dancefloor, Encephalon's debut "The Transhuman Condition" is remarkable for the depth and breadth of styles and ideas.

26 - FIX8:SED8 - FOREN6 - (CD)
DEPENDENT

With Fx8:Sd8, maybe one of the electronic scene's best-kept secrets has found a new home with Dependent. Through two self-released albums, Martin Sane has slowly built up the status he has with insiders of the scene - in contrast to the modern industrial of 2nd Face whose debut Dependent released earlier this year, Fx8:Sd8 are classic representatives of retro electro. Utilising movie samples, intricate sequences, and mid-tempo beats, they lean towards bands such as Mentallo & The Fixer or Interlace, attending to the connoisseurs of the electro scene. Sane's preference for the pioneers of dark electronic sounds from Canada and Texas is quite obvious; Fx8's unique sound, however, is guaranteed by the fact that the complex arrangements are never an end unto themselves, but merely a tool in the struggle against monotony. The bottom line is always a melodic and atmospheric song that consciously needs a concentrated listening and then strongly burns into your mind. The new album is mastered by fellow musician Thorn (2nd Face), which makes "Foren6" Martin Sane's best-produced record thus far. There's also been some progress in the vocal department of Fx8:Sd8; they do not only use distorted vocals, but also experiment in a manner reminiscent of the multi-vocal effects of Sweden's Interlace.

TRACKLISTING: 01. My Mistress 02. Baptism Of Fire 03. Flatline Friend 04. Permanent Memory Loss 05. Section Room 06. Lynch 07. X-shaped Scratch Mark 08. High Velocity Spatter 09. Puritan 10. Ligamentum 11. Hermaphrodite 12. Eyesaw

28 - FIX8:SED8 - WARNING SIGNS - (CD)
DEPENDENT

After the success of his 2017 album "Foren6", Martin Sane's Electronic/Industrial project Fx8:Sd8 is about to outgrow his cocoon. It has the potential to become that full-fledged Industrial music project that might spearhead a resurrection of the traditional electronic industrial sound formerly endorsed by cult acts like Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly or Mentallo & The Fixer in the 90s. While we are writing this info, Sane is touring together with labelmates 2nd Face in South America (!), preparing his European touring activities to go along for what might become one of the strongest "old school" electronic-industrial releases in 2019: "Warning Signs". The writing is on the wall in more than one way: Martin Sane's looks at early indications of a dystopic downturn of our peaceful societies echoes in our news almost daily. The notion of insecurity and angst starts to foster and grow in various places among the earth from North America to Europe to Southeast-Asia. His new album is a soundtrack to a modern dystopic downfall that we would rather like to ignore than to face. Musically "Warning Signs" is so old school, it could almost be called a "retro Industrial" album, as it includes all the ingredients that made Industrial breathtaking in the 80ies: Vocal samples, complex drum programming, and big strings mixed with structures that remind of old Skinny Puppy cultsongs like "Inquisition" or "Addiction". Like their originals, these songs need repeated listens to sink in and unfold their potential. But what amazes most is the contradiction between the theme of the album and its sound: How can something sounding so "retro" tackle problems that are so recent? Can we afford to ignore these Warning Signs?

TRACKLISTING: 01. Embolism 02. Parasite Paradise 03. Empyrean 04. Syringe Relation 05. Funeral Dirge 06. Within Cells Interlinked 07. Love 08. The Sceptic 09. Depression Deity 10. Tunnel Vision 11. Futile Attempts 12. Warning Signs
