1801 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - COME IMPARAI AD AMARE LE DONNE - (CD)
BEAT

COME IMPARAI AD AMARE LE DONNE (aka HOW I LEARNED TO LOVE WOMEN) is a comedy directed in 1967 by Luciano Salce and starring Robert Hoffmann, Nadja Tiller, Sandra Milo, Elsa Martinelli, Romina Power, Anita Ekberg, Michèle Mercier, Mita Medici, Orchidea De Santis, Mariangela Giordano, Margherita Horowitz, Bernadette Kell, Zarah Leander, Erika Schrahum, Sonia Romanoff, Gigi Ballista, Vittorio Caprioli, Carlo Croccolo, Heinz Erhardt, Franco Morici and Gianrico Tedeschi. Having recently graduated from college (where, being the founders son he was hosted begrudgingly), 18-year old Roberto Monti, with his innate passion for engines, finds a job as a mechanic in a service station and later as a car salesman. Among his various love interests is Laura, a 35-year old Baroness and owner of a fashion house, and Olga, a friend of Lauras and owner of a helicopter factory. A meeting with 16-year old Irene leads Roberto to lose his job as well as his friendship with Laura. The young mans job hunt ends with his employment by Olga, who also happens to be Irenes aunt, allowing the girl to tighten her love network and induce Roberto to marry her. This film gave Ennio Morricone the opportunity to compose a score that merges classical flavor and romantic themes ("Alta moda," "Alla corte di Re Luigi XVI," "La duchessa") with contemporary dance music based on the main theme, "Pioggia sul tuo viso," including on three tracks a slow lounge piece performed by the British band the Sorrows (including the shake dance-floor version of the Main Titles and a rare stereo mix). Maestro Morricone reprises this tune with different and always fascinating beat arrangements for orchestra and choir until the splendid Finale that summarizes the main themes. For the already-prolific Roman composer it was easy to be inspired in the presence of so much female beauty protagonist in the movie, creating memorable themes performed by I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni from which the incredible voice of Edda Dell'Orso emerges, used here as a true instrument in the orchestra ("La donna gattina").This brand new reissue is a must in the discography dedicated to two-time Oscar-winner Ennio Morricone, and it will increase awareness of the musical art of this Italian genius for new generations of film music fans. The CD is packaged in a jewel case with a 12-page booklet designed by Alessio Iannuzzi. Audio mastering and liner notes by Claudio Fuiano.

1805 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - IL BANDITO DAGLI OCCHI AZZURRI - (CD)
BEAT

A movie released in 1980 on the long crime genre trail that was very prolific in the previous decade, "Il bandito dagli occhi azzurri" (aka "The Blue-Eyed Bandit") was directed by Alfredo Giannetti and starred Franco Nero, Dalila Di Lazzaro and Fabrizio Bentivoglio. A very rare film and a very rare score, the music was composed by honorary Academy Award winner Ennio Morricone, one of the most popular musicians of our times. The movie is based on a complex script with many twists and surprises involving a dangerous bandit, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, and his enemy, Franco Nero, in his classic role of the commissioner. Once again, the Maestro created astonishing sonorities, taking some jazz keys that we could frame into the "Take Five" ambience, just to bring to closure a score that does not delude punctually. With more than 49 minutes of great music including 8 never-before-released cues, its a blue-eyed score as youve never heard it before! The CD is packaged in a jewel case with a 12-pages booklet, with liner notes on the movie and score and an in-depth biography on Franco Nero by Fabio Babini. Limited edition!

1806 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - IL DIAVOLO NEL CERVELLO - (CD)
GDM

CD the OST by Ennio Morricone for the giallo movie "Il diavolo nel cervello" (aka "The devil in the brain") directed in 1972 by Sergio Sollima and starring Keir Dullea, Stefania Sandrelli, Micheline Presle, Maurice Ronet, Tino Buazzelli, Renato Cestie, Gabriella Lepori, Orchidea De Santis. Suspected to have killed his father, cause found shocked close to his parents body with a gun in his hand, a child is confined in a clinic. A doctor who does not believe to this story, investigates and with the help of the childs mother will discover the scary truth. The psychoanalytic side of the plot is underlined by the fascinating music score by Ennio Morricone, based on a romantic and sad main theme with pop arrangements and the voice of Edda DellOrso opposing the mystery and fear atmosphere of the plot. The author also includes fragments of Beethovens "Per Elisa" in an orchestral -sometimes atonal-context. Beside the stereo tracks of the original 1972 album almost 27 minutes of extra material in mono have been added from the original session master tapes digitally restored and remastered.

1810 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - IL MERCENARIO - (CD)
GDM

IL MERCENARIO aka THE MERCENARY - A PROFESSIONAL GUN. A western movie directed in 1968 by Sergio Corbucci. Written by Giorgio Arlorio, Adriano Bolzoni, Sergio Corbucci, Franco Solinas, Sergio Spina, Luciano Vincenzoni; produced by Alberto Grimaldi for Pea; music score by Ennio Morricone; photography by Alejandro Ullon; editing by Eugenio Alabiso; starring Franco Nero, Tony Musante, Jack Palance, Giovanna Ralli, Franco Giacobini, Eduardo Fajardo, Franco Ressel, Raf Baldassarre, alvaro de Luna, Jose Canalejas, Ugo Adinolfi. The story takes place during the Mexican revolution. Paco (Tony Musante), a peon, rebels against his boss, owner of the mine for which he works. From there, Paco became the leader of the revolution. To help his revolution, and fight the regular troops, he hires a mercenary, Serghei Kowalski (Franco Nero), a Polish. Columba (Giovanna Ralli) joins with the two of them and this young woman and Paco fall in love. After a series of adventures, Paco kills in a duel his enemy Ricciolo (Jack Palance), but then is captured by the military along with Kowalski and the two are sentenced to death. Before the execution, Columba saves them. At the end of the movie Kowalski resumes his mercenary wandering, while Paco continues to fight for the freedom of his country. Ennio Morricone composed an OST that alternates epic music of revolutionary kind with pieces of Mexican folklore: as Mariachi and Bamba. Morricone puts the whistle in the score, which creates an atmosphere of mystery mixed with pain, often enhanced by the sound effects of a machine gun. In 2004, director Quentin Tarantino effectively used the song The Arena in his film KILL BILL Vol. 2 in the sequence where the murderous Bride, buried alive, manages to escape her death. Digitally restored and remastered, the recordings on this CD comes from the master tapes in stereo, assembled for the original album. To date the master tapes of the recording session are not yet been found.

1813 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - JONA CHE VISSE NELLA BALENA - (CD)
BEAT

Jona che vise nella balena (Look to the Sky) is a movie directed by Roberto Faenza in 1993 starring Jean-Hugues Anglade, Juliet Aubrey and Jenner Del Vecchio. The story is based on the deportation of a Jewish family from Amsterdam to a Nazi prison camp and the holocaust as witnessed through the eyes of Jona, wrenched from his world and forced into a horrible new setting. Its a wonderful movie that brings a new variant on the theme, filtered through the eyes of a child and featuring a powerful score by Maestro Morricone that accentuates Jonas emotions. Punctual in realizing an emotive retaliation of great quality, the Maestro chisels with mastery one of his most iconic scores of the 90s. Out of print for a long time, the score is available once again in this deluxe edition by Beat Records. The CD is presented in a jewel case, with liner notes (in Italian and Englislh) by Roberto Pugliese (Colonne Sonore web magazine), 12-page booklet designed by Alessio Iannuzzi, and mastering by Claudio Fuiano.

1814 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - L'HAREM - (CD)
BEAT

L'harem was directed in 1967 by Marco Ferreri and starred Carroll Baker, Gastone Moschin, William Berger and Renato Salvatori. It tells the story of three men entangled in a relationship with the wonderful Carroll, who cant choose between them. Following their suggestion, she lures them to an isolated villa, like a real harem with the roles inverted. The story ends in tragedy when the she-sultan decides to leave her lovers. The unique and demanding score of two-time Oscar-winner Ennio Morricone complements the film. The Maestro chose a score partly sacral, both tonal and atonal, availing himself of Gato Barbieris proficiency on the sax, accompanied by a full orchestra. The atmosphere fully expresses the conflicted soul of the protagonist and is rendered even more exotic by the guitar performance of Bruno Battisti DAmario, alternating soft velvet executions with more rhythmic cues. Finally, a definitive version of this score is available, including the cue "Fermateli!" from the movie Menage allitaliana (1965), so beloved by the director that he decided to use it again in this film. The CD comes in a jewel case with a 12-page booklet designed by Alessio Iannuzzi, liner notes and mastering by Claudio Fuiano.

1820 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - SPACE: 1999 - (CD)
PENTA MUSIC

CD release of SPACE:1999, featuring the original motion picture soundtrack of the Italian theatrical version composed by two-time Oscar-winner Ennio Morricone. SPACE: 1999 premiered in Italian theatres on January 14, 1975, and was created through the process of editing together three episodes from season one of the TV series: "Breakaway," "Ring Around the Moon" and "Another Time, Another Place." The theatrical release of SPACE: 1999 predated the series debut on Italian television by a year, with the first six episodes being broadcast from January 31, 1976. Six more episodes followed in July and the remaining twelve episodes in the fall of the same year. The series original iconic score was not used for the Italian theatrical version (the series originally premiered on British television on September 4, 1975), instead being replaced with a fascinating score by Ennio Morricone, who composed original material featuring frantic jazz themes and futuristic electronic sequences reminiscent of Barry Grays work on UFO.This release also includes avant-garde material by Morricone that was carefully selected as background music for various scenes in the movie, taken directly from the RCA promotional series of library vinyl LPs titled "Dimensioni Sonore," performed by symphonic orchestra and presented here in full stereo. Also included is the final large orchestral theme heard over the end credits, featuring vocals by Edda DellOrso and I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni. This theme was reused for the 1979 mini-series Orient Express, again scored by Ennio Morricone. The CD has a running time of 70:11 and comes with a full-color, 20-page booklet containing archive stills, a foreword from Fanderson chairman Nick Williams (the official Fanderson UK fan club) and plot synopses and credits for the three original episodes. This release was officially approved by ITV Studios and will be available from September 13, 2016, the day in which the moon separated from Earths orbit in SPACE: 1999 (also coming soon on double-LP from Death Waltz Recording Company!). Mastering by Claudio Fuiano & Daniel Winkler - Artistic supervision by Claudio Fuiano

1821 - MORRICONE, ENNIO - STARK SYSTEM - (CD)
BEAT

After LO SAI COSA FACEVA STALIN ALLE DONNE? we announce another expanded presentation of an album that was previously released by CAM: STARK SYSTEM, a score that the popular Roman label released together with the former on a double bill back in the '90s. It was director Armenia Balducci's feature film debut, featuring super star Gian Maria Volontè in the guise of Stark, a cop-movie actor that falls prey to paranoia because he fears his latest movie will be a failure. For this score, the living icon Ennio Morricone composed a soundtrack that is reminiscent of his work for Elio Petri, a style that inspired a lot of musical moments in world cinema and which is still successful today with a long trail of fans. The composers immense talent is on display once again in this orchestral score edited from the original stereo master tapes, expanded and now available after an accurate restoration in order to enrich your collection. The CD comes with a 12-page booklet designed by Alessio Iannuzzi and features in-depth liner notes by Andrea Morandi.
