1 - AL'TARBA - LET THE GHOSTS SING - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

Almost 10-year career, 5 albums and 2 EPs, many featuring, AlTarba is not a beginner anymore. From there, alongside the musical walk with this always-curious tune-lover, he will be considered as pure hip hop beatmaker, dark, almost Horrocore as Necro or Stoupe would be.To some people, he will be a great funky electro-swing composer, like Chinese Man, with the success of Mushroom Burger, Petite Maline or Sexy Coccinelle. As he is growing, so is his music, resulting in a flying abstract hip-hop as RJD2 or DJ Shadow. Far from the beatmaker under influences, Al'Tarba devotes himself to be a solo artist claiming the complexity and abandoning the label of "purist" too often related to punk or hip-hop.

TRACKLISTING: 01. Laisse Moi Entrer 02. Siberian Vengeance (feat Paloma Pradal) 03. Stil Insomaniac 04. Felix The Brat 05. Just Like Ants 06. Gangsters & Rude Girls (bonnie Li, Danitsa, Jessica Fitoussi & Dj Nixon) 07. Good Morning Rain 08. Let The Ghosts Scream 09. Torcher (feat Lateb & Dj Nixon) 10. Dusty Signal 11. Stop Crying 12. My Vicious Side (feat Bekay & Dj Nixon) 13. Lands Builders 14. Take Me Back

2 - AZIAN Z - ZA GAIJN - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

In the beginning, its a one man story, his name is Takeshi Yoshimura, and he comes from the land of rising sun, after having crossed some deserts with his guitar on shoulders. In his suitcase, a beat box, sunglasses, and an fresh and innovative sound concept: PORN POP! It's a new musical kind mixing Electronica hurtful rock & Wave disco pop, in which he implements a genius dirty text. A serious knowledge of Kama-Sutra, and a light exposure to Nippon humour (not only 1st degree.) are required.

3 - BRAIN DAMAGE - BURNING BEFORE SUNSET - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

While the 2 previous ones were clearly conceptual, this fifth album of St-Etienne bass / machine duet is a come-back to their original ambient dub roots with their unique sense of spreadingdark and melancholic emotions. Once again they turn science of sound to an alchemy perfectly associated to the charisma of spoken-words master, Black Sifichi.

4 - BRAIN DAMAGE - DUB SESSIONS - WHAT YOU GONNA DO? - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

With this optimistic manifesto Nathan Martin offers a new project. Alone now, Brain Damages sound seems still personal and identifiable. The colour of this album is more "roots" and the live band Brain Damage Dub Sessions is radically devoted to a certain vision of the Sound System. After being away from the Anglo-Jamaican dub model, Brain Damage Dub Sessions finally proposes his version in 2012. For the realisation of this new album many performers were invited: Sir Jean - Me Te Sh / Le Peuple de lHerbe), Brother Culture, Madu Messenger Mohamed Parvez, Learoy Green, Zeb Mc Queen but also ArtDeko brass section for powerful and productive studio sessions.

5 - BRAIN DAMAGE - SHORT CUTS - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

Brain Damages fourth album is a more or less direct referrence to the "Commercial album" by The Residents (1980). Much like this now mythic american band, Brain Damage develop a reflexion on emergency, frustration and intensity : everything must be said in the shortest possible lapse of time. In order to attain this objective, none of the 24 tracks recorded this project is over 2 minutes. An uncommon orientation for a band still labelled electro-dub. This new project visits many new musical horizons, gradually sliding from psychedelic floydian folk to some kind of minimal electro-techno via trip-hop and the digital dub that has contributed to the reputation built with their two first albums. Once again, Brain Damage have colaborated with many guest vocalists for this project. Spoken word is still predominent, represented here in seven languages: French, English, Bosnian, Catalan, Polish, Arabic and German.

6 - BRAIN DAMAGE - SHORT CUTS LIVE - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

They approach dub music in a real transversal way, from its original roots to its most contemporary forms. Founders of the French dub scene which has strongly come out in the 90s with live bands such as High Tone, Kaly Live Dub, Improvisators Dub or Zenzile, this duet seems to be more cerebral, with a dark and tortured touch moderating their "electronic" side. It is thus equiped with a rich and innovative discography that the duet presents ten tracks from their 2009 tour.

7 - BRAIN DAMAGE - SPOKEN DUB MANIFESTO, VOL. 1 - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

Composed by the two founders of the label Bangarang, that duo rapidly imposed its own style based on emo-dubambient. They never stopped improving their touch by tours and collaborations. Their mastery of stereophony, and optimal use of technology allow them to renew the concept invented in Jamaica by the end of the last century. On this third album, Brain Damage keeps surprising us. With their legendary precision, the duo suggests here a personal interpretation of "Dub Poetry", a kind of music invented in the late 70s in Jamaica by Prince Far I, LKJ, or Oku Onura. Among many others. Created around the concept of spoken word (recited poetry and not sung) that spoken dub manifest is the result of at least 11 collaborations with vocalists/poets/writers with different origins and sensibilities.

8 - BRAIN DAMAGE - TALK THE TALK - (C+D)
JARRING EFFECTS

Last year Brain Damage released the album Walk the walk , unanimously acclaimed by critics, and considered as one of the cornerstones of his discography. The album was recorded at the legendary "Harry J Studio" (Bob Marley, Steel Pulse). It was for Martin an opportunity to meet many Reggaes legends. Finally in featuring: Horace Andy, Willi Williams, Winston Mc Anuff, Ras Michael, Kiddus I, Sam Clayton and Stephen Stewart.A year after Brain Damage is back with "Talk the Talk", an album compiling the dub versions of each of the pieces of the previous opus. To enhance each of this songs, Martin Nathan had chosen to call another legend : Father Wee Pow, founder of the Jamaican sound system Stone Love, famous since 1972!Talk the talk is composed by sound manipulations, sometimes noisy, mixed to the ravishing Elders chorus. Each dub version is shaped with a lot of echoes, reverbs, fake accidents, all demonstrating mastery. One of the particularities of "Talk the Talk" is that each song systematically ended with some extracts of interviews with the different singers, as if it was a way to honour them. Paradoxically, if Brain Damage is considered for many years as one of the main actors of the French and International dub scene, "Talk the talk" seems to be is his first real dub album. If its similar to a stylistic exercise, "Talk the Talk" is an essential piece inside a larger project where a documentary ("Walk the Walk") allows to understood the whole project. In fact, the director Wasaru had joined Brain Damage during his journey in Jamaica. It was a great opportunity for him not only to create an artistic work but also to hear these legends telling their childhood memories. This serie has a heritage value. In this 8 episodes coming from the web series"Walk the Walk" we can find a photo of the 60s and 70s Jamaican life, anecdotes about the different characters, mythical events of the Island (Bob Marley, Tosh Pete) and intimate confessions.

10 - BRAIN DAMAGE - WALK THE WALK - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

The initial idea of the project was to involve certain actors of this famous generation that contributed in the 1960s / 70s to create what reggae is, and by extension, the dub.Five veterans of the genre line then up behind the microphone, all contemporaries, but with totally diverse sensibilities and backgrounds. Nowadays still superstar for some of them like Horace Andy whose tone is recognizable miles away, and who is used to collaborate with Massive Attack, kind of forgotten for some others like Kiddus I that yet was, in 1978, the hero if a key scene in the cult film Rockers , all of them have kept their talents unimpaired. This being the case of Willi Williams, author of the timeless hit "Armagideon Time", covered by The Clash as so many others did, but also of Winston Mc Anuff who never ceases to amaze us by collaborating with French artists in a marked contrast to reggae vibes (Camille Bazbaz, Fixi, Java). Lastly, the dean Ras Michael, which was for so many years one of the ambassadors of Nyabinghi traditions on an international scale, continues to blow us away by his vocal interventions imbued with so much spirituality, and by this unique style of percussion-playing.

13 - BRAIN DAMAGE MEETS HARRISON STAFFORD - LIBERATION TIME - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

To gain some grasp of the genesis of this new project, that may seem surprising at first, lets address what both artists have in common, rather that what differentiates them. Internationally recognized masters in the styles, respectively reggae & dub, that they are developing in parallel for almost 20 years, without never really meeting each other, the two protagonists strive to challenge their codes in an ever greater respect to their Jamaican roots: two decades furthering a relentless fight against musical orthodoxy, to the benefit of interbreedings that have always been major contributions to music - and arts in general - History. This is evidenced by jazz and Jamaican traditional music fusion in the case of Harrison Stafford, and notably with his amazing adventure with Groundation, as well as by Martin Nathan countless experimentations, over Brain Damage prolific discography, always digging in more unlikely and audacious directions. From this unexpected collaboration will stem Liberation Time album, an LP that will delight many fans of the two artists works, all what builds their respective uniqueness being there so well intricated. Harrison Stafford unique voice supports, in a most elegant way, the delivery of a unitiear.ng message focused on self-empowerment through music and his universalist vision of Rastafarian faith. Brain Damage writing and production, on the other hand, appear always more subtle and personal, intellectualized yet visceral. Solid compositions, hit melodies and classy dub effects are among assets that will undoubtedly confirm Liberation Time as one of the most accomplished collaboration project of this year.

19 - BRAIN DAMAGE MEETS VIBRONICS - EMPIRE SOLDIERS LIVE - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

This is the Live version of Empire Soldiers :Brain Damage & Vibronics unleash a fiery dubwise journey into the lesser known volumes of history. When two of Europes most notorious dub producers and an international cast of singers meet up to discuss the start of the Great War 100 years ago, you know the results are going to be big. Empire Soldiers is the often overlooked story of the colonial troops in World War One, a heavyweight musical collaboration with an emotive set of lyrical tales from Africa, Asia and The Caribbean told by Madu Messenger, Parvez, Sir Jean and Mohammed El Amraoui. Vibronics & Brain Damage teamed up and decided to come together around a concept, a narrative inspiration that will undoubtedly surprise: Anglo-Caribbean and Franco-African soldiers experience during the first world war. The academic historian, poet & songwriter, Madu Messenger, uses the product of years of study and research, to develop, within that very framework, a series of texts on some key topics such as travel, friendship, war and death. This project thus aims at offering a learning experience about this often little-known period of our history. It will draw troubling parallels with some more contemporary considerations on culture shocks, immigration, imperial powers and horrors of war that still affects all of us today. Following their reflection on this sensitive issue, the musicians of the projects - all of many other origins, Anglo-French, Jamaican or Asian - move towards a cultural alignment, opposite to certain enslaving and communitarian models. Brain Damage and Vibronics digital reggae-dub comes in different colors throughout many influences, completing the best of their know-how, with the spontaneousness of the collaboration & human experience.

21 - BROADWAY - ENTER THE AUTOMATION - (CD)
JARRING EFFECTS

Sequel to the very atmospherical 06:06am released in June 2005, Enter The Automaton is a definite turning point for BROADWAY. Up untill then they could be seen as a band flirting with Boards of Canadas electronica, with the melodies kept in the background... a vision of pop through the prism of My Bloody Valentine in some ways... When entering their automaton, you can (re)discover a band in the real sense of the word, where machines give more space to vocals, piano, guitars or doublebass. This album could by the way find a place in the Anticon catalogue with clear influences by bands like The Velvet Underground, Radiohead or Sigur Rs. Its universe alternates between an intimist and melancholic side (Automatons, Letters in Hearts) and a more frontal and energetic aspect (Stop Motion, High Treason). As for the video creations they also naturally follow the musicians evolution, namely with the use of colors and a more rhythmical editing, thus immersing the spectator into a whole range of sensations, from euphoria to melancholy...

24 - CAPE TOWN EFFECTS - CAPE TOWN EFFECTS - (C+D)
JARRING EFFECTS

Cape Town Effects is a crazy project, that results from the relationship initiated 10 years ago between Jarring Effects and South African artists. Multifaceted in nature, the project, spoken in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa, brings together two labels (Pioneer Unit & Jarring Effects), three beatmakers (Jaak, Konfab, El Nino), a violinist Tebz (ben sharpas sister), 3 producers Dplanet (from Pure Solid), Big Space and Led Piperz, a VJ (Sp0Oky from Pure Sold) and a film director; the project oscillates between electro and hip-hop. It will be available for live performances, as a photo exhibit, a documentary and released on record. Ben Sharpa brings is style on 3 titles, he is considered by those in the know to be one of the African Continent's most accomplished and gifted lyricisJaak is passionate about the Afrikaans language, and is one of a growing number helping to give the language a cooler image through rap, and to reclaim it for the many black and mixed heritage South Africans for whom it is a mother tongue. KONFABs style of rhyme remains grounded and devoid of any influence from the materialistic and flashy schools of thought so prevalent in mainstream hip-hop today. He projects the anti-establishment, presently disadvantaged, previously dissed and damaged, seriously pissed-off with anger mismanaged, half-foreign, urbanised darkie that he is. El Nino is adamant that the way forward for South African groups is to focus on their own stories. Hip-hop has also managed to spawn several active South African subgenres, including spaza and motswako (the country's biggest star, HHP, is a motswako rapper), and El Nino feels that is a good thing for the music.

26 - D.LIGHTS - D.LIGHTS - (C+D)
JARRING EFFECTS

Everyone knows Detroit, the city bankrupt, a ruin field to the industrial past and glorious music, a spearhead of soul and punk and cradle of techno. We all know the pictures of Eight Miles and Michigan central station - the monumental and ghostly railway station. And yet, the city is no longer officially bankrupt. But what is the price ? The city center is rebuilt. But for who ? generations of artists continue to appear. Who are they ? Jarring Effects continues the experience of artistic and human meetings between French and foreigns artists. The second part of this collection begun in South Africa will take place in 2015 with artists coming from Detroit; 2 beatmaker (French and American), 3 rappers from Detroit, 5 featurings, 1 remix for an album, a documentary (52 min), a tour, a wandering exhibition, cultural meetings but firstly a new look on the city and historyDVD: Resilience - The movieWhat if Detroit was not in ruin ? What if all the media repeated about that was a lie. This documentary offers a road trip in one of the most enigmatic cities of the USA. The words of its inhabitants reveal a city half empty, but full of concerned citizens, downgraded persons which seem to hide from the rest of the world. Highlighting these people, Resilience sounds like a declaration of love for their city.Through History and histories, the music sounds from everywhere, half-empty streets, abandoned building, invading brownfields and hearts, making a part of Detroit's soul.
