1 - CHOMSKY, NOAM - MAFIA PRINCIPLE OF GLOBAL HEGEMONY - (CD)
TRADE ROOT

The worlds most influential living intellectual, Noam Chomsky, holds forth on the root causes of the conflicts in the Middle East and talks about hopes for future social change. The renowned foreign policy critic and linguist brings the full force of his rapier-like mind and deadpan wit to bear in slicing through mainstream misconceptions, many of them intentional, about the internal and external politics of Iran and Israel/Palestine. Chomsky eloquently contextualizes the power of the Israel lobby and the centrality of the U.S. in resolving the underlying antagonisms in the Middle East, as well as weighing in on how U.S. public opinion has shifted over the past several decades and addressing various positive directions for activism.

2 - LAMOND, MARY JANE & WENDY MACISAAC - SEINN - (CD)
TRADE ROOT

Seinn is a powerful collaboration borne of a long-time friendship and a shared love of Celtic music. Whether its the mesmerizing Gaelic vocals of Mary Jane Lamond, or the superb and true musicianship of Wendy MacIsaac on the fiddle, these ladies have been making their mark with traditional audiences worldwide for over two decades. The recording achieves a delicate balance between the musical sensibilities of two artists, showcasing traditional and original compositions among the melancholy of Gaelic song and the joy of fiddle tunes. It seems only natural that these two impressive talents now come together to create a true musical partnership, whichcombine their musical sensibilities, their strong Celtic roots, and their colorful personalities.

3 - SHROUDED STRANGERS - LOST FOREVER - (CD)
TRADE ROOT

Formed some time ago in Harrisonburg, Virginia, but persistently sidetracked by other projects after they relocatedto Washington DC (first as sociopathic proto-punks and Arena Rock recording artists the Carlsonics, and then as incandescent psych-folkies Nethers), The Shrouded Strangers continue to be Lost Forever. Their third album, recorded in a cabin in the woods of Guerneville, California, finds the boys doing what they do best: sweating around an 8-track machine and dropping white noise atop sputtering Camaro/Casio freak-outs(Featherbed), sea shanties about botched mutinies (Black Tie White Atlas Shrugged), discomforting childhood hallucinations and fuzzed-out hillbilly stomps. Its a strange, consistently damaged, and very-occasionally beautiful collection of disembodied pop tunes and psych-sing-a-longs in which all the characters involved all seem a bit bewildered. "Excellently weird." - Thom Monahan (producer, Pernice Brothers, Vetiver)
