1 - GRATEFUL DEAD, THE - 50 SHADES OF BLACK & WHITE VOL.1 - (LP)
PARACHUTE

The Grateful Dead - 50 Shades of Black & White Vol.1"I will get by. I will survive", So the 20,000 or so Deadheads who filled the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey on 7th April 1987 chanted, in unison with the Grateful Dead, on the opening number of what became known as a first rate Dead show. The fateful words came of course from Touch of Grey, the groups only ever Top 40 single, which would peak at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, and which remains probably the best known song from the bands huge back catalogue. Touring in support of their 1987 In the Dark album, which spawned the aforementioned single, fans delighted in the new energy exhibited by the front man - and indeed the rest of the group. Many in attendance reported seeing a rainbow above the parking lot prior to the gig, and this was taken as an omen of what was to come. This two instalment set features the entire gig performed that early spring evening almost 30 years ago. Taken from the FM radio broadcast of the concert made by WNEW New York, and thus providing a superb quality recording of what many consider to be one of the very finest 80s shows by this extraordinary collective, this first time on vinyl release is sure to become a welcome addition to every decent Grateful Dead collection out there.

4 - GRATEFUL DEAD, THE - ANTHEM OF THE SUN (PD) - (LP)
GRATEFUL DEAD

50th Anniversary limited edition picture disc. Originally released in 1968, the aspiring Anthem of the Sun is the second album from The Grateful Dead and it finds the band refining the dynamics of their live set in the confines of the studio while simultaneously challenging the conventions of the LP medium. The addition of lyricist Robert Hunter and percussionist Mickey Hart helps take the Dead's brand of improvisational psychedelia to new heights here and displays that they could be as equally transcendent in the studio.

6 - GRATEFUL DEAD, THE - HARDING THEATRE VOL.1, 1971 - (LP)
PARACHUTE

Presented here across the three installments of this release and for the first time on vinyl, this legendary gig is now available for all to enjoy, some 45 years since that winter night in northern California when the Grateful Dead were the most inventive and creative act on the US touring circuit. Keith Godchaux joined Grateful Dead in mid October 1971 as a replacement on keyboards for the ailing Pigpen who was unable to undertake the rigors of touring in the late 71 season. The group were re-energised by this new intake of talent, and the brace of home-turf shows performed at Friscos Harding Theater across the 6th and 7th November weekend were rarely bettered at this juncture in the Deads career. The 500 seater Old Harding was a tiny venue for the group at a time when most local shows were either at Winterland or, occasionally, at the Berkeley Community TheaterNO EXPORT TO G.A.S.

10 - GRATEFUL DEAD, THE - LAUGHTER, LOVE & MUSIC 1991 - (LP)
PARACHUTE

DELUXE VINYL EDITION!!!If there was one band whose appearance at and support for the Bill Graham Memorial Concert - held in San Franciscos Golden Gate Park on November 3rd 1991, just 8 days after Bill and his girlfriend, Melissa Gold, plus pilot Steve Kahn, were killed in a fatal helicopter accident - was not just assured but all but mandatory, it was The Grateful Dead. The Deads set concluded with Sunshine Daydream but two encores followed - a deeply affecting version of Forever Young with Neil Young fronting the group, and then a bittersweet Touch of Grey. The actual finale of the afternoon featured many of the artists who had performed getting onto the stage for a rousing and spirited Amazing Grace, ending a sad day during which emotions were clearly mixed, but one that had ultimately proven joyous and - as it had been tagged - one full of laughter, love and music.
