1 - FOGH DEPOT - FOGH DEPOT - (CD)
DENOVALI

Fogh Depot is not just a collaboration between three musicians weaving a cozy melancholic cocoon in the midst of a looming, cold, unwelcoming metropolis of Moscow. It's a creativity lab where complex cryptoanarchic ideas rigidify in the viscously flowing Phrygian mode, while the simple and naive piano melodies sweep the listener right back to childhood. Fogh Depot's debut album contains eight stories told by different people in different places. Recommended if you like Xploding Plastix, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Dale Cooper Quartet .

3 - FOGH DEPOT - TURMALINTURM - (CD)
DENOVALI

Fogh Depot continues its quest for the fifth element, experimenting at the confluence of jazz, neoclassical, and electronic music. Two years after their first S/T release, the Moscow- based trio presents a new album - Turmalinturm.Like the previous recording, this is a unique blend of ostensibly incompatible elements. A traditional academic approach fuses with lo-fi spontaneity. The raw and vivid texture of the bass springs forward from a modular sterility. At times the mixture is explosive. No wonder the studio where the album was created burned down a month after it was completed.nThis album imparts a new, architectural dimension to Fogh Depots music. A fortress named "Turmalinturm" rises from a solid foundation of jazz, neoclassical minimalism, and experimental electronica. But the sophistication of the fortress towers makes one suspect that each had its own architect. "Quicksilver Spoon" is virtually flawless in geometric form. "Who The Last Says No" is so fragile and delicate that it is a miracle it does not collapse. "Oscar" is perhaps the most complex and substantial tower of the ensemble. "Alice, Bob & Cypher" has a secret of its own in the old vaulted underground crypt. One of the structures is topped with a Gorgoneion, a stone head of Medusa. Another houses a bell tower borrowed straight from Rachmaninoffs Suite No. 1.Tourmaline is a stone that appears to change its color depending on the angle of view. Turmalinturms listeners get to choose how to approach the fortress. Some will discover the same pensive melancholy sounds that Fogh Depot started with. Others will find lighter, brighter, occasionally even euphoric motifs.Recommended if you like Xploding Plastix, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble or The Cinematic Orchestra.

5 - FOGH DEPOT - TURMALINTURM (REMIXES) - (LP)
DENOVALI

Turmalinturm [remixes] is a scrupulous compilation of tracks inspired by the second Fogh Depot album released in October 2016 via Denovali Records. The idea was to compile pieces both from artists of the Denovali roster and of the booming Russian electronic scene. The Tourmaline tower is crashed. A new town is being raised at its place, eclectic in architecture, but of a monolithic mood. Get ready for a dense atmospheric mix of magnetic darkness and genuine delicacy. This is an example of seductive and at the same time disturbing tunes at the confluence of drone, ambient, IDM and live electronica. The collection absorbes works of the most skillful producers of this noble genre demanding extreme precision. Half of the London-based duo Piano Interrupted and also successful solo musician Franz Kirmann provides a shard of pure roman from Albion's shore, while the experienced Moscow artist Dima Ustinov delicately and gently dissects the modal harmony of the track Meduse. The prolific Sardinian producer Saronkeira adds a detached, ephemeral and otherworldly piece and master of techno hymns. Moa Pillar contributes a horror-drone remix of Quicksilver Spoon. For those who want to dance there is Monokle - an eclectic musician from Saint Petersburg - decomposing Meduse into a bassy club track. The Siberian dark lord of modular synthesizers Hmot totally deconstructs Oscar and literally distills all the piercing dramatic eect from the track, while an emotional and powerful piece by John Lemke, gloomy, aective and catchy, closes the remix album. The Tourmaline tower is crashed. But the town made of its remnants is no less fascinating than the original.

TRACKLISTING: 01. Alice Bob And Cypher (franz Kirmann's A Kraftwerk Kiss Remix) 02. Meduse (dima Ustinov Remix) 03. Alice Bob And Cypher (sa+ronkeira Remix) 04. Quicksilver Spoon (moa Pillar Remix) 05. Meduse (monokle Remix) 06. Oscar (hmot Deconstruction) 07. Svetly Prazdnik (john Lemke Remix)
