2 - CANNON, FREDDY - PALISADES PARK - (LP)
RUMBLE

Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon -as he became known for the trademark pounding drums and pulsating rhythm of his singles- was a Massachusetts native who became a star on the local Boston scene in the late '50s before being "discovered" by the late, great, Dick Clark who got him signed to Philadelphia's Swan Records. Following a string of fairly successful singles, Cannon really hit the big-time with his 1962 classic, 'Palisades Park', the title track of this very album. A tribute to the famous New Jersey amusement park, this classic early '60s rocker was penned by none other than Chuck Berry. As the music critic and legendary rocker, Cub Koda once wrote "Freddy Cannon was a true believer, a rocker to the bone." You need no further evidence of that than this classic LP.

3 - CANNON, FREDDY - THE EXPLOSIVE! FREDDY CANNON - (CD)
HALLMARK

It is an often over-looked fact but the first rock & roll artist to score a UK #1 hit album wasn't Elvis Presley, the best selling artist in the world, or Cliff Richard, his UK rival, but Freddy Cannon. Whilst his single sales might have been modest with only one making the Top Ten, Freddy Cannon came across as an out and out rock & roller. Where others varied their material, Freddy stuck religiously to his guns. This, coupled with a blistering tour of the UK in early 1960, helped The Explosive Freddy Cannon power up the album charts, spending eleven weeks on the chart, of which one was spent at the summit. Freddy never troubled the album charts again, but he surpassed Elvis and Cliff during his brief spell
