1 - SOFT MACHINE - AT RONNIE SCOTT'S JAZZ CLUB - (LP)
VINYL LOVERS

180 gram 2LP. Recorded in April of 1970, just a few months before the release of Third (soon destined to become their most successful album), this memorable performance marks a significant turning point in the bands history, when Soft Machine had begun exploring in earnest a type of music that would soon become simply known as "fusion". As rock artists began incorporating traditional jazz instruments (like saxophones) into their groups, jazz artists (most famously, Miles Davis on albums like Bitches Brew) began bringing in electric guitars and wah wah pedals. It seemed for a moment that music had managed to transcend genre. Here the band, which now was made up of Hugh Hopper on bass and Elton Dean on keys (in addition to Wyatt and Ratledge), focuses on tunes culled primarily from the upcoming Third as well as their most recent album, Volume Two.

TRACKLISTING: 01. Slightly All The Time/out-bloody-rageous 02. Eamonn Andrews 03. Mousetrap *medley* (including: Mousetrap / Noisette / Backwards) DISC #2: 01. Hibou Anemone And Bear 02. Facelift 03. Moon In June 04. Esther's Nose Job *medley* (including: Esther's Nose Job / Pigling Bland)

2 - SOFT MACHINE - DROP - (LP)
SIREENA

In the early seventies West Germany was a great touring area for British rock bands. Here bands like Steamhammer, East of Eden or Curved Air got almost even greater success than in their homeland. This also included the Canterbury scene jazz rock band Soft Machine, the band was announced high, especially in college towns. These recordings were recorded during the tour in Germany in 1971. The tracks are known pieces from the legendary albums of the band "Third" (1970) and "Fifth" (1972), but the sound here is very dynamic and therefore novel.First of all the release shows an even greater devotion to jazz and free jazz. The quality of free-spirited saxophonist Elton Dean together with the influence of the brilliant drummer Phil Howard is outstanding. Most of the titles come from the pen of mastermind Mike Ratledge, who as always makes a convincing figure behind his Rhodes piano, and Hugh Hopper on bass is an institution in Soft Machine - been microstructure. These four guys supply an incredible stage performance, full of variety, Tempi- and chord changes, intensity and playfulness. Excursions in free jazz realm certainly delight as the successful versions of Soft Machine - classics like "All White", "Slightly All The Time" or "As If" - as examples only.A captivating sound document, which was prepared by Sireena sound guru Marlon Klein meticulously for a release on vinyl. The album is released, as we know it from Sireena, in a limited edition in colored 180 gram heavy-weight vinyl

5 - SOFT MACHINE - LIVE AT HET TURFSCHIP, NL 1970 - (LP)
VINYL LOVERS

180 gram 2LP. Recorded live in Breda, Netherlands in January of 1970, this double LP represents the only existing recording of a very rare and short-lived quintet version of the band. Sax/ flute player Lyn Dobson was the fifth member here, left over from the bands days as a septet. Just three months later Dobson would move on, leaving the classic Ratledge-Dean-Hopper-Wyatt line-up in place. Dobsons contributions to a 22-minute long version of Hoppers "Facelift" as well as "Backwards" are of particular interest here, as is a tentative version of "Out-Bloody-Rageous", which was still a work in progress at this stage. Includes liner notes by band member Brian Hopper.

6 - SOFT MACHINE - LIVE AT ROYAL ALBERT HALL, LONDON, 13TH AUG. 1970 - (LP)
B13

"We was invited by Tim Souster, who had an evening using the hall to do what we liked with. I believe hed heard our second LP, asked us on the strength of that. He discovered us on the way to discovering Motown. Via the Who, I think. Anyway it was brave of him to invite us despite the withering contempt of the posh music establishment. Before our bit, I went out the back for a quick fag and then the doorman didnt want to let me back in. Ive got to play in there, I said. you must be kidding, son, he said, they only have proper music in there. Not that night they didnt". (Robert Wyatt)

11 - SOFT MACHINE - THE EARLIEST RECORDINGS - (LP)
B13

140 gram LP - CLEAR vinyl in PVC sleeve with BLUE lettering & RED label (limited edition 500 copies). The very earliest known recordings by the men who would unwittingly go on to found the influential Canterbury scene and its premiere band, Soft Machine! Culled mostly from sax player Brian Hoppers personal vault of early rehearsal tapes and live performances circa 1962-63-over 3 years prior to Soft Machines official formation. In 1962, Brians younger brother Hugh was still attending the Simon Langton Grammar School For Boys near Canterbury, as was classmate, Robert Wyatt. Mike Ratledge, had been a classmate of Brians and Daevid Allen was just a freewheeling Australian music lover who was renting a room at Wyatts parents house. The Hopper brothers, Wyatt and Ratledge were drawn in by Allen (who was older) with his Sun Ra records, beat poetry, and tales of the bohemian life in Paris, all of which soon led to talk of starting a band together...as these things often do. The very earliest line-up was Wyatt on drums, Allen on guitar, and Hugh on bass. They called themselves the Daevid Allen Trio. "Dear Olde Benny Green Is A-Turning In His Grave" is a tune that comes from one of their first live performances at Londons Marquee club in 1963.
