1 - JAH WOBBLE - CHINESE DUB - (LP)
LET THEM EAT VINYL

Jah Wobble is one of the great English originals. Thirty years ago, his rumbling bass-playing defined the sound of Public Image Limited, and since then he has used his love for dub reggae to transform anything from avant-garde jazz-rock to English folk songs. After being influenced by his wife, Zi Lan Liao, an exponent of the guzheng (Chinese zither), he turned his attention to far eastern styles, with startling results. This album is a brave experiment in east-west fusion; yet it's also a typical Wobble album, thanks to that distinctive bass work and echoing dub effects, and the refreshingly rough-and-ready production. The album represents a cross-cultural collaboration between Wobble and a 22-piece outfit consisting of Mao and Tibetan ethnic musicians and dancers, Sichuan opera mask changers, and an Anglo-Chinese dub band.

2 - JAH WOBBLE - JAPANESE DUB - (LP)
LET THEM EAT VINYL

It starts with high, yelping vocals, a slow, solid beat from the barrel-like taiko drum, and the wail of the hichiriki flute used in Shinto religious ceremonies. Then comes the distinctive rumbling bass that is the trademark of one of Britain's maverick veterans. Jah Wobble is off on his musical adventures once again. He may have started out as the backbone of the early Public Image Ltd, but he has gone on to fuse dub with jazz-rock, English folk and far eastern themes, with his bravely original Chinese Dub. Now he has moved on to reinterpret Japanese styles, using very much the same technique, matching traditional acoustic instruments against his bass, beats keyboards and programming, and doing so with remarkable delicacy.

3 - JAH WOBBLE - MU - (LP)
LET THEM EAT VINYL

140g, double vinyl. A sublimely enjoyable dub-influenced ambient and electronic outing by Jah Wobble, the British bassist who first came to fame as a member of John Lydon's Public Image Ltd. MU is a series of instrumental workouts that take their inspiration from ancient religion and modern trash culture in equal measure. Wobble excels in playing the thunderous, loping bass lines of his reggae heroes, while the subtle mix of acoustic and electronic instrumentation gives these pieces an almost cinematic sweep.

4 - JAH WOBBLE - THE COVER ALBUM - (LP)
TIGER BAY

The British bass guitarist, singer and poet Jah Wobble, ne John Joseph Wardle, started to make a name for himself in British post-punk circles in the mid-70s. After departing the Sex Pistols in 1978, John Lydon founded the legendary post-punk, ethnic-informed band Public Image Ltd together with Keith Levene (ex-Clash), Tim Walker and Jah Wobble. Eclectic in his own way, Jah Wobbles music influences span from jazz to dub, from punk to world music, and The Cover Album is a perfect example of this variety. A collection of renowned covers recorded at the beginning of 2015, among them the film themes The Good, The Bad & The Ugly by Ennio Morricone, Midnight Cowboy by John Barry, and the r jazz classic, Take Five by Dave Brubeck & Paul Desmond.
